Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026
The short version

We don't collect your data. We can't even see it. Sidestock has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers of our own. Everything you put into the app stays on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your own personal iCloud account.

Information the app stores

Sidestock stores the information you enter while using it:

  • Inventory items — names, SKUs/barcodes, costs, prices, quantities, photos, notes, categories, tags, and product variations
  • Sales and stock history
  • App preferences, such as your chosen currency

This data is stored locally on your device. We have no access to it. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party by the app.

iCloud sync

If your device is signed into iCloud, Sidestock syncs your data (including item photos) to the private iCloud database associated with your own Apple Account, using Apple's CloudKit service. This enables backup, restore on a new device, and sync between your devices.

  • This data is accessible only to you, through your Apple Account.
  • We cannot read, access, or recover it — Apple's CloudKit private database is not visible to app developers.
  • Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • You can disable sync at any time in Sidestock's Settings, in which case data stays only on your device.

Camera

Sidestock asks for camera permission for two purposes: scanning barcodes and taking photos of your inventory items. All camera processing happens on your device. Barcode scans and photos are never sent to us. Photos you take become part of your inventory data and sync to your iCloud only as described above. You can decline or revoke camera access in iOS Settings; the app remains usable without it.

Purchases

Sidestock offers a one-time in-app purchase, processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. Apple provides us no personally identifying information about purchasers.

Exports and imports

CSV export (including Shopify-formatted export) happens only when you initiate it, and the resulting file goes wherever you send it via the iOS share sheet. Once exported, that file is under your control and outside the app. Imports are read on-device and stored like any other inventory data.

What we don't do

  • No user accounts or registration
  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
  • No third-party SDKs or data-sharing partners
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of data — we have nothing to sell

Children's privacy

Sidestock is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives only on your device and in your iCloud account, you are in full control of it. Deleting the app removes its local data; iCloud-synced data can be removed by deleting the app's data from iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage) or from within iOS.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Sidestock changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before that version is released.
